Mythology: What is truth?
Truth in mythology is very rare. In fact, i believe that there isnt much truth in the stories and legends that we have read because they are based on opinion. Usually the stories are created to teach a lesson or explain an occurence or event. Over the many myths we have read, the explanations for why things happened certain ways vary greatly, and it doesnt seem like their are any known true facts in them. I believe that there is little if any truth in myths, and they are based purely on opinions and beliefs rather than proved facts.

Lord of the Flies: What is truth?
In society, truth is based on the morals and laws of our community. When you stray away from civilization like the boys were, you lose your sense of good judgement and you don't really know how to differ between truth and lies. The boys learned what occurences and things were most likely true, and when they were stranded on the island they forgot about it and were very superstitious. The truth in Lord of the Flies is that what is looked down upon in our society and what is appreciated do not contradict eachother once you become savage.

To Kill a Mockingbird: What is truth?
In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout and Jem learn the important lesson that you cant judge a person based off of what other people say; you should make you own opinion of them. This is the truth because what you see on the outside may not be the real deal, and sometimes the things you hear are total lies. The man who was married to a black woman was looked down upon because it was different. He was standing up for what he believed in; which resulted in him being shunned by the town. Jem and Scout had talked to him and realized he isnt what other people make him seem like. This applies to our lives because we need to realize that we need to find out the real truth on our own, and learn not to jump to conclusions about anything.

Great Expectations: What is truth?
In our society, we are expected to do alot; sometimes more than we can handle. We expect people to act right by holding themselves together and be practically perfect. We expect alot from our friends, and even the definition of a good friend has officially been set in stone. Not only that, but the expectations we have for ourselves can be overpowering because we want to be the best we can be. If we fail, we beat ourselves up. Also, adults hold alot of great expectations for each generation because we are expected to discover new great things such as new cures for disease, a solution to war, a solution to poverty and even global warming. But we cant blame them for pushing so hard, because in today's society, its the truth that if we dont try hard, we might not ever amount to anything.

Mice and Men: What is truth?
The truth about relationships is that life is easier and better when you have someone to share it with. In Lord of the Flies, Ralph goes through some pretty rough times when he has to lead the tribe; not only that, but once Jack forms his own tribe he really starts to suffer. Having Piggy with him helped him through it and comforted him. Also, in Great Expectations, Pip is practically on his own once he reaches London. He does know people but it isnt until he has Herbert that he actually has someone to trust and confide in when things start to go bad. Lastly, in Mice and Men, even though Lennie ruins every job George seems to land them they still stick together. Through every tough situation they both had eachother to look out for one another which paid off in the end. So you could definitely say that is it very true that it is relieving when you have someone else there with you.
